Layer Marney Tower

Layer Marney Tower is a beautiful Tudor building surrounded by formal gardens and parkland with magnificent views to the Blackwater estuary. Situated between Colchester and Maldon, the house was built around 1520 by Henry, 1st Lord Marney.

Visitors to Layer Marney Tower can enjoy climbing to the top of the Tower, wandering through the gardens and following the Wildlife Walk. They may then enjoy a cup of tea and a piece of cake in the Tea Room and to buy a souvenier in the shop.
